polisMOBILITY 2024: „Call for Best Practices“ mit sehr hoher Beteiligung von Städten und Kommunen
28 Beiträge zur kommunalen Verkehrswende eingereicht
Mit dem „Call for Best Practices“ bietet die diesjährige polisMOBILITY expo & conference in Köln eine zusätzliche Bühne für kommunale Akteurinnen und Akteure, um ihre Best Practices und Innovationen im Bereich der Verkehrswende zu präsentieren. Bis Ende Februar konnten sich Stadt- und Kommunalverwaltungen, städtische Tochterunternehmen sowie Regionalverbände mit einem Modellprojekt für einen Kurzvortrag im Konferenzprogramm bewerben. Das neue Format wurde sehr gut angenommen: Insgesamt 28 Bewerbungen gingen ein, von denen 14 Projekte ihre Erfahrungen am 22. und 23. Mai 2024 auf der citySTAGE teilen werden.Die Verkehrswende gelingt nicht von heute auf morgen. Sie ist das Ergebnis harter Arbeit, die in Städten, Gemeinden und Landkreisen geleistet wird. Überall in Deutschland nehmen innovative Verwaltungen, Verkehrsbetriebe und kommunale Unternehmen die Herausforderung an. Mit Kreativität, Mut und Sachverstand entwickeln sie maßgeschneiderte Lösungen. Sie sind die Architekten einer nachhaltigen Mobilität, die unsere Lebensqualität verbessert und unsere Umwelt schont. Allerdings fehlt es den Kommunen oft an Handlungsspielräumen, um ihre Ideen umzusetzen. Die kürzlich abgelehnte Novellierung der Straßenverkehrsordnung (StVO) hätte den Kommunen mehr Spielraum gegeben, wurde jedoch nicht umgesetzt.
Dass es dennoch bereits viele positive Beispiele für eine erfolgreiche Verkehrswende gibt, stellte der „Call for Best Practices“ nun eindrucksvoll unter Beweis. 28 Städte und Kommunen folgten dem Aufruf der polisMOBILITY zur Einreichung von Best-Practice-Projekten. Im Wettbewerb um die begehrten Konferenz-Slots konnten sich 14 Projekte durchsetzen. Diese erhalten am 22. und 23. Mai 2024 die Möglichkeit, ihre Erfahrungen auf der citySTAGE im Ausstellungsbereich „cities + regions“ mit dem Fachpublikum zu teilen. Ziel ist es, voneinander zu lernen und andere Städte und Regionen zur Nachahmung zu motivieren. Unter den ausgewählten Beiträgen sind u. a. Projekte der Stadt Aachen, der Freien und Hansestadt Hamburg, der Bundesstadt Bonn, der Stadt Leipzig und der Stadt Köln.
Unterstützt wurde der „Call for Best Practices“ vom Deutschen Städtetag und vom Deutschen Städte- und Gemeindebund.
Neben den Kurzvorträgen auf der citySTAGE werden mehr als 20 der eingereichten Projekte auch in der Ausstellung der polisMOBILITY präsentiert. Am 23. Mai 2024 wird es zudem eine Postersession geben, bei der die Projektverantwortlichen von 12:30 bis 13:30 Uhr für Fragen und Diskussionen zur Verfügung stehen.
polisMOBILITY camp setzt Dialog in Kölner Innenstadt fort
Am 24. und 25. Mai verwandelt das polisMOBILITY camp den Rudolfplatz in der Kölner Innenstadt in einen Erlebnisraum für die städtische Mobilität von Morgen. Alles dreht sich um eine Frage: Wie kommen wir „Besser durch Köln“? Das polisMOBILITY camp bietet einen lebendigen Raum für Bürgerdialog, Informationen, Austausch und Kreativität rund um eine klimaschonende, sozial gerechte und zukunftsfähige Mobilität. polisMOBILITY 2024: Call for Best Practices attracts strong response from cities and municipalities
28 entries in the municipal transport transition category
With its new Call for Best Practices format, this year’s polisMOBILITY exhibition and conference in Cologne is offering municipal stakeholders an additional opportunity to present their best practices and innovations relating to the transport transition. Until the end of February, city councils and municipal authorities, municipal subsidiaries and regional associations were invited to submit a model project that could be featured in a short presentation in the conference programme. The new format met with a very favourable response: a total of 28 applications were received, of which 14 projects will share their experiences on the citySTAGE on 22 and 23 May 2024.The transition to a sustainable transport system will not happen overnight. There is hard work to be done in cities, municipalities and districts. All over Germany, innovative local authorities, transport operators and municipal companies are taking up the challenge, using creativity, courage and expertise to develop bespoke solutions. They are the architects of a sustainable mobility model that will improve our quality of life and protect our environment. However, municipal authorities often lack the freedom to realise their ideas. The recently rejected amendment to Germany’s Road Traffic Act (StVO) would have given them more room for manoeuvre, but it was not enacted.
Nevertheless, the Call for Best Practices has now provided compelling evidence that many positive examples of a successful transport transition already exist. A total of 28 German cities and municipalities responded to polisMOBILITY’s call for best-practice projects, with 14 successfully securing coveted conference slots. On 22 and 23 May 2024, they will have the opportunity to share their experiences with the specialist audience on the citySTAGE in the “cities + regions” section of the exhibition. The aim is for the participants to learn from each other and motivate other cities and regions to follow their lead. The selected contributions include projects from the City of Aachen, the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the Federal City of Bonn, the City of Leipzig and the City of Cologne.
The Call for Best Practices was supported by the Association of German Cities (DST) and the German Association of Towns and Municipalities (DStGB).
In addition to the short presentations on the citySTAGE, more than 20 of the submitted projects will be showcased in the polisMOBILITY exhibition. There will also be a poster session on 23 May 2024, where the managers of the various projects will be available to answer questions and discuss their work from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
polisMOBILITY camp continues the conversation in Cologne city centre
On 24 and 25 May, the polisMOBILITY camp will transform Rudolfplatz in Cologne’s city centre into an interactive space where visitors can experience the urban mobility of tomorrow. Here, everything revolves around one question: how can we move around Cologne better? The polisMOBILITY camp will provide a stimulating space for public dialogue, information sharing, creativity and an exchange of ideas on all aspects of climate-friendly, socially just and sustainable mobility.
